Marking Life’s Big Moments

Life happens, and when it does, many of us want to mark those changes with a ceremony that feels real and honest. As an independent celebrant, my job is to help you do exactly that.

I don’t follow a set script or a religious rulebook. I work for you. I’m here as a steady, reassuring presence, someone who will help you shape a ceremony that truly reflects the people at its heart.

What does a celebrant actually do?

More and more people in the UK are choosing celebrants because they want something personal. Unlike a registrar or a vicar, I have the freedom to focus entirely on your story.

Whether we are celebrating a new life, a marriage, or saying goodbye to a loved one, I am here to:

  • Listen to your story: I take the time to understand what matters to you.
  • Write from scratch: Every word is created specifically for your ceremony. Nothing is generic unless you want it included.
  • Guide the day: I lead the service with calm and care, so you can stay present in the moment.

Why these ceremonies matter

Marking a big life change—whether it’s a joyful one or a difficult one—helps us make sense of what’s happening. When a ceremony uses your own words and reflects your real life, it becomes something meaningful. It creates a space where you feel seen, supported and understood.

Making it yours

One of the best things about a celebrant-led ceremony is that there are no “must-dos”. You have the freedom to include things that feel right for you. Such as:

  • Personal promises: Writing vows or words that sound like you.
  • Special music and readings: Choosing songs or poems that hold real memories.
  • Symbolic gestures: Lighting a candle, sharing a keepsake, or any small act that carries meaning.

Working together

The process is very simple and relaxed. We start by talking. You share your memories, ideas, and hopes for the day I help shape them into a ceremony that feels right. You’ll always have the chance to check what I’ve written to make sure every word feels true to you.

Choosing what’s right for you

In the UK, you have choices.
A registrar service is often quite short and follows a legal script.
A religious service follows the traditions of a church.

A celebrant-led ceremony sits in the middle. It gives you the freedom to have exactly what you want. You can include religious elements if you wish, or keep it entirely secular. It is your day, and it should be done your way.
